➡ THE MAIN POINT IN AI THIS WEEK ❓
This week, both Google and OpenAI made significant AI announcements. There is one main point everyone has missed.
On Monday, OpenAI CTO Mira Murati announced that over 100 million people use ChatGPT.
On Tuesday, Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced that 1 million people had tried Gemini Advanced, providing consumers access to their most advanced AI model.
Is this excellent progress? Absolutely.
However, let’s put this into perspective.
One hundred million people represent less than 2% of the world’s population.
Meta, through its Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp apps, serves about 3 billion users.
With its search, Android, and other services, Google reaches about 4.3 billion users annually.
Some AI insiders criticized both presentations for not launching even more advanced models, but they missed the point.
Both companies now aim to encourage people to try AI, integrate it into their daily routines, and, ideally, pay for more advanced features.
That’s why both companies’ visuals were down-to-earth, and many examples they presented were simple and relatable.
