Given the conclusion of elections in Taiwan, it’s key to revisit the AI world’s reliance on TSMC’s chip production.

China’s ambitions to unite with Taiwan could significantly impact global AI progress.

The situation:

➡️ TSMC in Taiwan is the exclusive manufacturer of the most advanced AI chips.

➡️ Major AI chip users include Nvidia, Google, AMD, Microsoft, Amazon, Tesla.

➡️ Geopolitical tensions in Taiwan directly threaten global AI development.

➡️ TSMC, Samsung, and Intel are the main chip producers, with Samsung and Intel trailing TSMC.

➡️ The U.S. is attempting to lessen its dependence on East Asian chip production, but this is a long-term goal.

➡️ There’s a growing global effort to diversify semiconductor manufacturing to reduce reliance on TSMC.

➡️ A disruption in TSMC’s operations could severely hinder worldwide AI advancements.
