4 PUSHBACK & COUNTERPOINTS FOR AI ADOPTION
Ever asked your AI assistant to do your laundry? Turns out it’s not quite there yet!
AI adoption can stir up some serious pushback. I still got “it’s a fad that will pass” in recent meetings with senior execs. It isn’t.
Here are some other common objections and how to tackle them from a recent Section report:
4 PUSHBACK & COUNTERPOINTS FOR AI ADOPTION
1️⃣ PUSHBACK: AI makes things up.
COUNTERPOINT: AI hallucinates, but it’s not lying. It confidently provides wrong information when pushed outside its limits because it’s designed to please us. We need to anticipate these limitations and ask follow-up questions.
2️⃣ PUSHBACK: It’s biased.
COUNTERPOINT: AI inherits biases from its data sources — that means us. We can identify these biases and untrain them from AI in a way that’s more difficult to do with humans.
3️⃣ PUSHBACK: Its knowledge is limited.
COUNTERPOINT: That’s true; it doesn’t have all the answers because it’s built on publicly available data. Certain models also have some lag time, but new versions are solving that gap. You can also feed it with as much internal data as you’re comfortable with.
